The first known use of the word ‘fuck’ in the English language is in a set of medieval case files for a man called Roger Fuckbythenavele. Roger had been called to court 3 times in less than a year before he was finally ‘outlawed’ in 1310. The repeated formal use of his last name suggests it was not meant to be a joke- though it may have been a nickname he’d earned for being known as a virgin or a moron, as it implies he was either too inexperienced or too dumb to know that you can’t have sex through the belly button.
